This 1950 Philco set is in a bakelite cabinet, has a 7" screen and is a very compact unit and quite pleasing to the eye. This model and the wood case version (50-702) have what looks like a design flaw in the HV section. Just about every set I have known about will function fine for about 20 minutes or so then gradually lose high voltage. I designed a small High Voltage unit that plugs into the 6V6 oscillator socket and puts out the 5kv, no other modifications are necessary.
